Women’s Clothing Boutique Delights Shoppers With a Setting Full of Charm

When the HE.D group was tasked with designing a boutique for Ukrainian women’s clothing company Love by the Moon, better known as LBTM Studios, they first had to transform two former grocery stores. Cluttered, and with little character, the principals looked to fashion to help set the tone. “Our main inspiration was the brand itself,” says Daria Loban, co-founder of HE.D group. Everything about it speaks of elegance and femininity, from the tactile richness to the authenticity of the materials. We wanted the interior to reflect the same qualities.”

Located in Kyiv, the 1,615-square-foot storefront’s high ceilings and large windows allowed the team to maximize the feeling of openness and provide an atmosphere with an ethereal vibe, enhanced by lighting. Three central chandeliers which echo the forms of floating jellyfish combine organic softness and a bit of whimsy. Strategically placed accent fixtures emphasize the gentle interplay between illumination and shadow.

Wood in different textures enhances every area in the shop. Perfectly sanded surfaces with a subtle gloss, or brushed finishes with pronounced grains, are layered to create fabric-like effects. The reception desk, for example, is a focal point, with vertical relief slats that mimic the look of folds. Parquet flooring with a chevron pattern is reminiscent of couture knitwear. Ebony cocktail tables shaped like smooth pebbles bring a chic touch to the lounge area.

Walls painted in a buttery cream tone not only serve as a backdrop for the apparel, but also complement the burnished brass and hand-painted textiles. Doors, however, are a burgundy color that has a luxe appeal.

The generously-sized fitting rooms are private spots in which to leisurely try on garments. Each one has a backlit mirror in just the right position to ensure the most flattering perspectives. A partition with a delicate floral motif separates the retail and office zones without the harness of typical dividers.

Vintage furnishings and objects add to the charm in every corner. A chair and table lamp complete the cozy reading nook. Antique tableware is used to serve drinks and delectable desserts to clients. Ceramic vases in all shapes and sizes on shelves remind shoppers of treasured objects kept at home.

The shopping experience becomes elevated instead of ordinary in the LBTM boutique, with its blend of contemporary and timeless elements. “It’s a place where comfort and attention to detail meet,” notes Loban. “Everything is designed to make visitors feel like welcome guests.”
