“Farewell Waltz”: The Emotional Illustrations of SilllDA

  • by

SilllDA is a South Korean visual artist whose vibrant, emotionally charged digital illustrations and paintings have gained global attention.

Born in Tokyo and raised in Korea, she began drawing as a child but only discovered her true passion for art during the pandemic, when extended time at home allowed for deep creative exploration. SilllDA’s work is instantly recognizable for its bold color palettes and surreal, often whimsical compositions, where faces, hands, and everyday objects become vehicles for expressing inner states and repressed desires. Her art frequently explores themes of loneliness, longing, and the complexity of emotional experience, blending charm with darkness and inviting viewers to project their own feelings onto her imagery. While originally focused on meticulous, message-driven pieces, she now prefers intuitive, open-ended works and plans to push her practice further with larger paintings, sculptures, and motion pieces.
