In Whispers of the Wildwood, Hyderabad-based design studio The Wicker Story turns memories of nature into form. Guided by the rhythms of rivers, forest canopies, grasses, and bark, the collection designed by founder Priyanka Narula captures the serenity of the forest through woven contours and earthy tones. Each piece is rooted in a specific natural inspiration, revealing a story shaped by texture, movement, and craft.
Flowering Vines is a modular lighting system – fitting, since flowers are rarely found alone. Inspired by nature’s own modularity, the design allows users to customize the installation with ease, adapting it to the scale and flow of any space.
Equally shaped by movement, the Pagdandi Wall Unit carries a ripple of curves throughout its free-standing form. Each bend creates small pockets for display, while the cane’s natural openness allows dappled light to pass through, giving the shelf a gentle, shifting presence.
As its name suggests, Dawn to Dusk is a standing lamp that channels the mesmerizing spectrum of sunset, capturing the warm glow and layered hues of the day’s final light.
Similarly, the Bark Bench mirrors that same passage of time, its fluid lines tracing the journey of bark weathered by wind, sun, and years. More than seating, it stands as an ode to growth, resilience, and the stories that continue to unfold in nature.
Finally, there is something deeply nostalgic about the motion of swinging, bringing us back to our childhood memories. The Bark Jhula draws upon this inspiration, taking cues from the hues of tree bark and the soft geometry of a tree to become a suspended sculpture. It invites stillness, memory, and gentle motion all at once.
With each piece, Whispers of the Wildwood traces a different gesture of nature – a curve, a rhythm, a color, a memory. Together, they form a collection that feels both grounded and transportive, bringing the calm of the forest into your everyday.
