Leo is a premium set of over-ear headphones launched by Loewe, the German electronics brand (not to be confused with the Spanish fashion house) behind some of the most innovative TVs of the 20th century.
The new product, launched in partnership with French footballer Kylian Mbappé and DJ David Guetta – marks the heritage company’s first foray into the category. To it, Loewe brings the same attention to performance and sound; fundamentals that factor into each of the renowned ambassador’s seminal careers.
For Mbappé, it’s about momentum, focus, and transformation. For Guetta, it’s about re-grounding himself and re-connecting with place. Together, they represent Leo’s broad range of use: everything from getting prepped and hyped for a match to trying to gain a sense of home while traveling.
Available in both midnight blue and moonlight beige, the standalone Hi-Fi audio solution integrates a top-quality DAC, powerful amplification, precision 50mm drivers, and full high-resolution codec support. All of this enhanced functionality is contained in a fold-flat design that ensures ease of transportation but that’s not compromised when it comes to longevity.
Leo is also equipped with prerequisite adaptive noise cancellation and transparency mode. Compatible with Hi-Res Audio Wireless, Spatial Audio, Dolby Atmos, and Bluetooth LE Audio, the headphones are especially adaptable to different environmental conditions. A 96 kHz / 24-bit LC3+ makes for high-resolution wireless playback with outstanding clarity and precision. A lot of this technology has been refined through the myriad of television and fixed audio devices it’s produced over the decades.
The icing on the cake: real-time AI translation seamlessly connected to the voice assistant support. Leo also has an impressive 65-hour battery life, a marked improvement from the industry standard alternative currently available.
The headset was engineered to be easily taken apart so that the various components – anodized aluminum frame and genuine leather cushions – can be repaired. Sustainability isn’t an afterthought but inherent to, even implicit in the design. The driver incorporates a diaphragm made using OCE (Olefin Composite Elastomer), a lightweight and durable material developed for superior sound.
The adjoining Loewe app incorporates the brand’s exclusive Mimi Sound Personalization function, allowing users to tailor playback to their specific hearing profile. With automatic adjustments, comparable products often hit the wrong note in this respect.
