‘Myth & Mind’: 100 Days by Srushti Pokerna

100 Days is an annual project at New York City’s School of Visual Arts that was founded by Michael Bierut. Each year, the students of the school’s Masters in Branding Program spend 100 days documenting their process with a chosen creative endeavor. This year, we’re showcasing each student in the program by providing a peek into ten days of their project. You can keep an eye on everyone’s work in the SVA 100 Days projects gallery.

Srushti Pokerna is a multidisciplinary designer who turns strategies into stories that people feel. For her 100 Day project, Pokerna translated epic tales from Indian mythology, as told by her grandmother, into present-day reflections on mental health.

In Srushti’s words:

“‘Myth & Mind’ is a 100-day series of tarot-style cards that pair symbolic moments from Indian mythology with modern mental health reflections. The project began as nightly conversations with my grandmother, whose retellings of epics inspired me to reimagine these stories through my own lens. Each day, I listened, researched, and translated the tale into a visual — generating an image and refining it to echo the textures of memory. On the back of each card, I wrote a short, poetic reflection connecting the myth to a present-day emotion — grief, self-doubt, hope, resilience. Through this daily ritual, ‘Myth & Mind’ became a dialogue between generations, myth and mind, past and present — reminding us that the struggles we face today have always been part of the human story.”
