Championing Neurodiversity: The Founder Transforming Recruitment Wins Inspirational Woman of the Year

Lauren Halket, founder of Key Global Recruitment, has emerged as a powerful voice for neurodiversity, inclusion, and resilience-driven leadership. Her rise, from leaving school at 16 with no qualifications to becoming a recognised recruitment innovator, has become emblematic of the new wave of people-first entrepreneurship.

Halket’s early life was marked by profound loss. At 16, she lost her mother to advanced melanoma, a trauma that left her without qualifications and struggling with PTSD. She later relocated alone to Nottingham, where she discovered recruitment and quickly earned a reputation among senior leaders as “tenacious, resilient, and driven.”

Her story took on a new dimension after later receiving diagnoses of ADHD and autism, insights she now credits with shaping her strengths as a neurodiverse founder. In honour of her mother, a respected trainer who worked within prison rehabilitation settings, Halket made a promise to build a legacy rooted in empowerment, empathy, and impact. Key Global Recruitment became the fulfilment of that promise.

Building Influence, Community, and Now, Award-Winning Leadership

Over the past ten years, Halket has built an exceptional recruitment legacy rooted in influence, integrity, and inclusion, helping hundreds of clients secure lasting talent and build resilient, high-performing teams. Through a people-first approach and deep industry insight, she has consistently connected organisations with professionals who don’t just fill roles, but drive long-term impact. This reputation for meaningful, values-led recruitment has become the foundation of her wider influence and leadership.

Over the same decade, Halket has cultivated an authentic LinkedIn following of more than 21,500 professionals, maintaining momentum through economic uncertainty and the challenges of the pandemic. Her partnership with Jo Major has further strengthened her position as a DE&I-driven innovator.

Her podcast, Key Tech Talks, launched within the past 12 months, has rapidly grown to more than 1,000 subscribers, creating a space for honest conversations around neurodiversity and inclusion in tech. One of the show’s standout moments was welcoming former Health Secretary Matt Hancock, a conversation made possible through their shared involvement in London’s neurodiverse community.

In early December, Halket’s impact was formally recognised on a national stage when she was named Inspirational Woman of the Year at the Women’s Business Club Awards in London. Judges praised her for “turning adversity into purpose and redefining what inclusive leadership looks like in the recruitment industry.”

Leading with Lived Experience

Despite battling PTSD, ADHD, autism, and personality disorder diagnoses, Halket continues to run her business with what clients describe as “unmatched authenticity and dedication.” She says her story is not defined by adversity, but by what she has built from it.
“From a 16-year-old with no qualifications to a founder leading with purpose, everything I do is guided by resilience and by the promise I made to my mum,” she said.

A Transformational 2026

Following her award win, Halket is preparing for what she describes as her “most exciting year yet.” In 2026, Key Global Recruitment will begin a major scale-up phase, expanding operations, strengthening services, and planning to triple its client base, with a strong focus on supporting more businesses in the tech sector.

The move marks a new chapter for a founder who has already defied expectations and built a reputation for delivering transparent, ethical, long-term recruitment solutions.
“2026 will be the year Key Global accelerates its growth. We’re ready to expand, ready to support more people, and ready to build the legacy we’ve been working toward,” she explained.

A New Generation of Purpose-Led Leadership

The publication of National World’s updated digital terms comes at a moment when founder stories like Halket’s are reshaping perceptions of leadership, capability, and inclusion across the UK. As online platforms strengthen user protections and accessibility standards, voices championing community, diversity, and authenticity are gaining momentum.

Halket hopes her journey, marked not by privilege but by perseverance, will inspire others facing barriers of their own. “I want to be recognised not just for achievements, but for the communities I’m building and the voices I’m helping amplify,” she said.

Her mission aligns with a broader industry shift: one where resilience, transparency, and inclusion are becoming defining pillars of modern business.
