“This project was created to address a simple contradiction: running shoes aren’t designed for real city life,” says founder Hyunuk Hwang on the inspiration behind the project. “I’ve been running for over a decade, mostly in urban environments—commuting, crossing bridges, and moving between work, family, and everyday responsibilities. Yet most running shoes are built for tracks or races, while lifestyle shoes often compromise real performance. BR-001 was born from the desire to create a shoe designed not for a single moment of performance, but for the continuity of everyday movement in the city.”
At its core, BR-001 is built around stability, balance, and long-term comfort on hard urban surfaces. Instead of chasing peak performance metrics or flashy technology, the design prioritizes repeatability, durability, and quiet performance—supporting natural transitions between walking, running, standing, and commuting.
