— Aurizon is delighted to announce it has become the naming rights partner of Rockhampton’s newly redeveloped Browne Park, with the venue officially rebranded as Aurizon Stadium.
The partnership reflects Aurizon’s deep and long‑standing connection to Central Queensland, with Rockhampton playing a critical role in the company’s operations and workforce.
Aurizon Managing Director and CEO Andrew Harding said the partnership was about more than putting a name on a stadium, it was about recognising the importance of Rockhampton and investing in the future of the region.
“Rockhampton is incredibly important to Aurizon and we are proud to be the new naming rights partner of this iconic venue,” Mr Harding said.
“Rockhampton is a critical hub for Aurizon, hosting the company’s integrated Network Control Centre and a large local workforce supporting rail operations across Central Queensland.”
Aurizon Stadium is the home of the Central Queensland Capras men’s and women’s teams and will host up to 16 Queensland Rugby League fixtures each season, along with local rugby league finals, school competitions and major one‑off events such as concerts and motorsports.
The recent $64 million redevelopment, funded by the Queensland Government, has transformed the venue with a new grandstand, upgraded lighting and playing surface, corporate and broadcast facilities, and expanded event capabilities.
Mr Harding said the investment in Aurizon Stadium strongly aligned with the company’s purpose to grow regional Australia.
“For Aurizon to be successful, we must set ambitious goals and work together to achieve them,” he said.
“We see strong alignment between Aurizon and the exciting upgrade of this stadium, which will ensure Rockhampton and the broader Central Queensland community benefit from increased investment in local sport, major events and community activities for many years to come.”
Aurizon employs approximately 2,200 people across Central Queensland, from Mackay to Gladstone and west to Longreach, with approximately 800 in the Rockhampton, Gracemere and Stanwell area.
The naming rights partnership builds on Aurizon’s longstanding support for local communities, including ongoing backing of the Central Queensland Capras All Abilities program and more than a decade of support through the Aurizon Community Giving Fund, which has assisted more than 150 local charities across Central Queensland.
Chairman of the Management of Browne Park Inc, Paul Hoolihan, welcomed Aurizon as the inaugural naming rights partner of the upgraded stadium.
“Aurizon has been part of the Central Queensland story for generations and we’re delighted to have such a strong regional employer and community partner associated with the future of this venue,” Mr Hoolihan said.
“Aurizon Stadium will play an important role in bringing people together and supporting sport and major events in Rockhampton.”
Aurizon Stadium will be officially unveiled ahead of the Central Queensland Capras’ opening home game of the 2026 Queensland Rugby League season.
