Tristan Post, AI strategist, UNDP expert adviser, and lecturer at the Technical University of Munich, has published AI Native, a practical guide for business leaders on building AI-driven organisations through strategic transformation rather than technology investment alone.
— Tristan Post, an AI strategist and adviser to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has launched a new book titled AI Native, published by Hanser Fachbuch. The book is a landmark guide directed at business leaders and executives looking to move beyond surface-level AI adoption and toward the structural transformation of business models and operations.
Prior to his current roles, Post served as Senior AI Strategist for one of Germany’s leading national AI initiatives and as AI Lead at one of Europe’s prominent AI startup incubators. He now runs an independent consultancy based in Munich, offering AI strategy development, C-level advisory and expert coaching, AI due diligence for venture capital investors, and operational impact assessments for private equity and M&A transactions.
Advisory Work and Academic Roles
Post currently serves as an appointed expert adviser to the UNDP, supporting countries including Armenia and Turkmenistan in the development of their national AI strategies. His work at the policy level focuses on building strategies that are contextually appropriate and actionable for governments at varying stages of AI readiness.
Alongside his advisory practice, Post lectures at the Technical University of Munich and Munich Business School. A course he developed on AI strategy and management has grown from 40 to more than 1,000 enrolled students within a single year. The curriculum incorporates expert contributions from representatives at Google, Microsoft, and Siemens, and is designed to be relevant to both non-technical business audiences and those already working within the field.
About the Book
AI Native makes the case that sustainable competitive advantage in AI is derived from redesigning processes and business models rather than from technology investment alone. Post argues that organisations do not require a dedicated internal AI team to begin their transformation, and that strategy and capability-building can develop in parallel. The book draws on frameworks and case studies from industry, the public sector, and the startup ecosystem.
The publication is intended for executives, founders, and senior decision-makers navigating the gap between AI’s potential and its practical implementation. It covers AI strategy development, innovation management, end-to-end project management of AI initiatives, and applied ethics and regulation within the AI space. Content is framed to be accessible to non-technical readers while remaining substantive for those with existing knowledge of the field.
Consultancy and Speaking Practice
Beyond the book, Post’s consultancy delivers AI strategy workshops and public speaking engagements for corporate and academic audiences across sectors. His workshop offering spans general AI introductions, applied strategy, innovation management, and regulatory and ethics frameworks. Engagements are tailored for both executive-level and specialist audiences.
For investors and dealmakers, Post offers two distinct advisory services: an AI Due Diligence assessment for venture capital firms and investors evaluating AI startups and companies, and an Operational Impact Check designed for private equity and M&A transactions. The latter assesses how AI affects the operational business model of an acquisition target prior to a deal closing, with the aim of identifying both cost-saving and revenue-generating potential.
Post has stated that his broader position is that AI represents primarily a strategic management challenge rather than a technical one, and that the organisations best placed to benefit are those prepared to undertake a comprehensive rather than incremental approach to transformation.
AI Native is available now through Hanser Fachbuch. Tristan Post is based in Munich and accepts international mandates across advisory, speaking, and consultancy work.
