EdgeNewswire reviewed 1,000 press releases and found that the sampled APAC and US feeds carried very different kinds of announcements.
— Investor legal notices represented 23.8% of the most recent 500 releases collected from a large US-based newswire, according to a new comparison published by EdgeNewswire.
That equals 119 releases. They included shareholder alerts, investigation notices and reminders about deadlines for potential securities claims. None of the most recent 500 announcements in EdgeNewswire’s APAC comparison sample fell into the same category.
The difference helps explain why business and finance feeds can feel repetitive. A large portion of release volume may serve a legal notification function rather than announce a new product, financial result or company expansion.
The APAC sample was more heavily concentrated around market activity:
19.2% launches and products
12.4% events and campaigns
11.2% expansion and investment
11.0% partnerships
Together, those categories represented 53.8% of the APAC releases and 29.4% of the US sample.
The US feed carried more research and thought leadership, at 11.4% compared with 2.2% in APAC. The APAC feed carried more feature-style brand stories without a single announcement, at 9.6% compared with 0.2% in the US sample.
Both sides contained the same number of financial-results announcements: 38 releases, or 7.6% of each sample.
EdgeNewswire does not name the US wire it sampled. The study is about the mix of a feed, not about any one distributor.
For readers, the takeaway is that a press release feed is not one uniform stream of company news. For businesses, the surrounding mix affects what an announcement competes against and which part of the story should appear first.
