Jeremy Fenske Uses Light, Color, and Simple Shapes to Turn Everyday Places Into Cinematic Worlds Worth Stopping For

  • by

Jeremy Fenske is a Los Angeles–area concept artist, art director, and visual-development artist with more than 15 years in AAA games. He has contributed to The Elder Scrolls Online, Destiny 2, and Palia, and is currently listed as a principal concept artist at Squanch Games.

Fenske’s work has the clarity and storytelling discipline of game concept art, but his personal paintings often begin with familiar, everyday places: a neighborhood street, a dense city block, a shoreline, a roadside building, or a quiet interior. His focus is less on reproducing every physical detail than on distilling a location’s light, color, atmosphere, and visual rhythm.

A recent digital sketch, for example, began from a random Street View location found through MapCrunch. Fenske treated the surprise city scene as an exercise in reducing dense visual information into a quick, legible painting — an approach close to digital plein-air work, where observation matters more than photographic precision.
