Product designer Jasper Morrison, interior designer Beata Heuman and Studio Kër founder Michael Bennett have been announced as Dezeen Awards 2024 judges, alongside architects Shimul Javeri Kadri and Carolina Maluhy.
Dezeen Awards 2024 in partnership with Bentley is open for entries. Submit your entry by midnight London time on 30 May to avoid late entry fees.
Now in its seventh year, the programme has become the ultimate accolade for architects and designers everywhere, with winners selected by a prestigious panel of international judges.

Product designer Jasper Morrison designs furniture, lighting and tableware
London-based product designer Morrison will join graphic designer Neville Brody on this year’s design judging panel. Morrison is best known for his work in furniture, lighting, tableware and everyday objects.
His early works include the Thinking Man’s Chair for Italian furniture brand Cappellini, the Plywood Chair for Swiss furniture brand Vitra and the 1144 Doorhandle for German door handle manufacturer FSB.
Recent designs by his studio include a lightweight cantilever chair using recycled plastic for Vitra, a wooden chair inspired by country stools for Italian manufacturer Mattiazzi and a minimalist alarm clock for Swiss technology brand Punkt.
Morrison’s contribution to design has been recognised by the Royal Designers for Industry, and he has also been named a Commander of the British Empire (CBE).
Interior designer Beata Heuman works across interiors, homeware and furnishings
Swedish-born interior designer Heuman will sit alongside Brigette Romanek on this year’s interior judging panel. Studio Beata Heuman is recognised for its colourful style across interiors, homeware and furnishings.
The London-based designer recently completed a 40-room Parisian hotel featuring vibrant shades of blue, green and pink, and playful flower textiles.
Heuman is currently working on two renovation projects, one for a rural estate in Scotland and another for Carl Eldhs Studio Museum in Stockholm.
She has also published a book, Every Room Should Sing, which offers a glimpse into her design philosophy and features her studio’s work.
Designer Michael Bennett is the founder and creative director of Studio Kër
Louisiana-born designer Bennett is the founder of Studio Kër and will join product designer Morrison on this year’s design judging panel.
His Hawaii-based practice explores contemporary and historical elements of African displacement, designing objects that address themes of race, identity and politics.
Creative director Bennett recently presented We Gotta Get Back to the Crib, an exhibition of sculptural furniture at the Rebuild Foundation in Chicago. This year, he also designed a table lamp named Ursa Minor inspired by African artistry for lighting manufacturer Gantri.
He also works with non-profit organisations, including the Rebuild Foundation, Mass Design, and Humble by Design, to help students from low-income backgrounds pursue a degree in the creative arts.
Carolina Maluhy’s practice specialises in commercial and residential architecture and interior projects
Brazilian architect Maluhy is the founder of studio Carolina Maluhy + Partners and will sit alongside Reddymade founder Suchi Reddy on the architecture judging panel. The London headquartered practice works on commercial and residential projects in countries including the United States, Italy, UK, Germany, Portugal and Greece.
Recent projects by Carolina Maluhy + Partners include Residence Pelusi in São Paulo and Templo do Bosque at Fazenda Boa Vista in Brazil, as well as commercial projects for Brazilian shoe store Alexandre Birman and a flagship store for holiday clothing brand A. Niemeyer in Brazil.
Maluhy’s portfolio also includes interiors, product design and furniture, which have gained international recognition through accolades from programmes such as Dezeen Awards, Prix Versailles, and Loop.
Indian architect Shimul Javeri Kadri is the founder of studio SJK Architects
Joining this year’s architecture judging panel will be Indian architect Kadri, the founder of Mumbai-based practice SJK Architects.
SJK Architects has designed over 110 contemporary projects, which span residential, commercial, education and hospitality and draw inspiration from Kadri’s climate, culture and technology studies.
Notable projects include Nirvana Films’ Studio in Bangalore, the Dasavatara Hotel in Tirupati, an apartment building in Chennai and a rural multi-speciality hospital for the JSW Foundation in Alibaug.
Kadri has been featured in publications including Architectural Digest India AD50 and AD100 lists. She has also won multiple awards including WAF Singapore, the Prix Versailles Award, the JK Architect of the Year Award and the CWAB India’s Top Architects Award.
Designers of the Year nominations open
Last week we launched our public nomination for the Designers of the Year awards at Dezeen Awards 2024. Public nomination is new for this year, and we are asking readers to put forward designers for consideration, which will then be shortlisted by Dezeen’s editorial team.
The nomination will be open from today until Wednesday 1 May. You can submit nominations using this voting form.
