ANKER Soundcore AeroFit Pro Review – A Fun and Affordable Open-Ear Wireless Earbuds

  • by

Wireless earbuds market has been growing tremendously as of late, and we are seeing many brands producing some good and affordable ones. The latest product that I have a privilege of reviewing, is the new ANKER Soundcore AeroFit Pro, one of ANKER’s premium open-buds available on the market right now.

If you know the brand, you probably have heard of their earbuds, chargers and few other mainstream products, especially for mobile devices. Their ANKER Soundcore AeroFit Pro is their answer to True Wireless Stereo (TWS), which not only sounds good, but also affordable for the masses.

Product Features

The ANKER Soundcore AeroFit Pro in particular, is not a normal in-ear wireless earbud. It is made for active individuals who love the outdoors and into sports. ANKER Soundcore AeroFit Pro is an open-ear wireless earbud, where the device only rests on the outside of the ear supported by an ear loop that fits snugly on the ear. It also comes with a detachable and adjustable neckband for an extra secure fit, suitable for active runners.

The unique design made it look sturdy and premium. The black colourway looks stealthy, quickly becoming my go-to earbud while being active. Being an open-ear earbud, I don’t have to worry about isolating external sounds. It is made this way for safer active use during outdoor activities so that you can hear any incoming traffic or crowds. Having said that, the sound quality from this open-ear wireless earbud is above average, in my own personal opinion.

It uses a lightweight material for comfort and the gentle skin-loving soft surface made it very comfortable to wear. Half of the time, I hardly notice the earbuds when I have it on, which is a good thing. And the loop that goes around the ear is quite flexible, perfect for that snug fit.

The ANKER Soundcore AeroFit Pro comes with a total of 4 mics, ensuring that communication will be crystal clear no matter how loud the surrounding noise can be. It is also IPX5 water-resistant, suitable for those who sweat a lot while being active. Connectivity is great with the latest Bluetooth 5.3 support, meaning it can also be used for gaming. Gamers will appreciate the low latency connection between the mobile device and the ANKER Soundcore AeroFit Pro.

There is also a button control located on the earbud itself, one on each side. These buttons enable the user to control the volume, play/pause the audio, and also to forward to the next audio track. The placement of the buttons are at an easy spot, so you won’t easily miss the buttons. Of course, you can also control the sound quality on the equalizer from the Soundcore App, which you can install on your mobile device. From the app, you can also assign the function of the buttons. Very useful to have.

The ANKER Soundcore AeroFit Pro comes with a rather large charging case, yet it is very portable due to its thin aesthetic. The total playtime ranges between 14 to 46 hours, depending on how you use it and of course, you will have to keep the earbuds in the case for charging. It also supports fast charging, with only 10 minutes of charging in the case, you can go up to 5.5 hours of total playtime.

As part of its accessories, the ANKER Soundcore AeroFit Pro comes with a detachable and adjustable neckband. You can use this if or when you’re being extra active or when you decide to go on a cross-country marathon. This is to ensure you have an extra close fit, and not dropping the earbuds during your run.

Sound Check

As far as the audio quality is concerned, the ANKER Soundcore AeroFit Pro performed relatively well for me. What I like about it is the support for high-res LDAC format audio which is one of the best audio quality formats there is. Audio quality with LDAC is somewhat true to life, studio quality sound which can be played by the ANKER Soundcore AeroFit Pro.

The earbud comes with 16.2mm oversized drivers with titanium coated dome for robust bass audio. It also comes with directional acoustic to avoid any sound leakage while wearing the open-ear wireless earbuds and that will also improve the overall sound quality. Finally, the ANKER Soundcore AeroFit Pro also supports 360 spatial audio which will track your head movements to keep you in the center of the sound.

On paper, that may sound great. I am quite particular when it comes to strong bass and “full bodied” audio. In this context, I really meant the proper balance between the highs, mids and lows. When listening to music that I know has a strong bass, the ANKER Soundcore AeroFit Pro can only reach about 70% of what I would call, “satisfying boom” to my ears. During the hard bass moment, I feel that it tried very hard to produce the bass, but not enough power to wow me.

On the mids however, the audio is good. It hits the mids just right and is very pleasing to my ears. As for the highs, it can be better. It is missing out the clarity a little bit, maybe 10% more would be nice. I don’t know how to describe it but this is my best personal explanation on how I’m hearing it. I do have a keen ear for audio, but I don’t know the technical terms for it. So I will keep it as layman as I can. And I do hope you can understand my points.

Listening to music in a quiet place such as my room, I can safely say that I enjoyed the audio quality. Although it is lacking the hard bass, it still sounds great at certain moments. However, when I have it on in a public area or while walking on the busy street, the audio sound is just okay. Of course, being an open-ear wireless earbud, it cannot isolate the surrounding noises. Yet it can still produce above average audio quality. So that is a plus point for me.

For those who love gaming, the ANKER Soundcore AeroFit Pro can be an excellent choice. Since it comes with Bluetooth 5.3, the connectivity is great. Even better when you have a newer device that also supports Bluetooth 5.3. The latency is kept really low and there is no delay in hearing sounds during gameplays. And since it comes with 4 mics, your voice can be heard clearly when you’re communicating with your teammates in the game.

Conclusion

The new ANKER Soundcore AeroFit Pro has a high potential to be an active accessory for sports. It is lightweight and very comfortable to wear. With IPX5 water-proof feature, it can withstand sweats and light water splashes while you’re outdoors. Not forgetting that it is also an affordable open-ear wireless earbud.

Would I recommend the ANKER Soundcore AeroFit Pro? Yes. Especially if you’re into sports and love being outdoors. As for the sound quality, you will be satisfied if you’re looking for crystal clear acoustic music with soft bass. But it simply can’t blow you away with hard hitting bass. Nevertheless, it is a high quality and durable product to have.
