Design is a profession driven by personal passion, a deeply rewarding practice for those impulsively driven to create, however it still has to satisfy the basic role of any J-O-B, which might be summarized as, as Destiny’s Child puts it: “Can you pay my bills? Can you pay my telephone bills? Do you pay my automo’ bills?”
Yes, getting paid is a foundational component of any career, impacting livelihood and professional growth — with that in mind our design career site, Coroflot, launched a tool, the Design Salary Guide, to equip you with the knowledge you need for successful pay negotiations, whether you’re on the hunt for a new position or building your dream creative team.
It is an amazing free resource that has over 70,000 contributors, tracking dozens of different creative job titles across the globe and in major cities. It is available year-round but every fall we make a call to all creative-types to add their current salary or rate information to keep the guide up-to-date.
Participation is quick and completely anonymous. All contributions are collected via a secure form then compiled and presented in the guide as aggregated data.
It doesn’t matter if you are in it for the kicks or the loot, if design pays your bills (oooo), even some fraction thereof, we want to hear from you! Take the 2023 Design Salary & Rates Survey
Please share our guide with your friends and colleagues, the more data, the more benefit to the design community, in accuracy and specificity!
