In 1979, Spearhead Industries introduced “Kooky Spooks,” a unique line of Halloween costumes that featured inflatable headgear, capes, and facial makeup, offering an alternative to traditional masks that limited visibility.
While the costumes were lighter and safer, the bulky inflatable heads and cracking face paint posed challenges, and their generic characters couldn’t compete with the licensed ones from competitors like Ben Cooper and Collegeville. By 1981, both the company and the Kooky Spooks line went out of business.
