Patty Hopkins, Joseph Grima and Sebastian Herkner revealed as Dezeen Awards 2025 judges

Architect Patty Hopkins and designers Joseph Grima, Sebastian Herkner, Natsai Audrey Chieza and Ben Saltmer have joined the judging panel for Dezeen Awards 2025.

Dezeen Awards, in partnership with Bentley, is searching for the world’s best architecture, interiors and design.

There are less than 10 days to submit your projects before the entry deadline, 29 May at 23:59 London time. Enter now for a chance to win and have your work celebrated globally!

British architect Hopkins will join the architecture panel for Dezeen Awards 2025

British architect Hopkins, who co-founded RIBA Royal Gold Medal-winning studio Hopkins Architects, will join the architecture panel for Dezeen Awards 2025 alongside Pablo Pérez Palacios and Lina Ghotmeh.

As one of the early pioneers of high-tech architecture, a style that emerged in the UK in the late 1960s emphasising structural elements, Hopkins is responsible for significant projects including Hopkins House, Schlumberger Research Centre, Portcullis House and the Olympic Velodrome.

Hopkins was recently made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in King Charles III’s New Year Honours list, in recognition of her services to architecture.

Grima is co-founder of Milan design week showcase Alcova

Italian architect and curator Grima, who co-founded Milan design week showcase Alcova, will sit on this year’s design judging panel.

Grima is also founder of Space Caviar, an interdisciplinary architecture and reseaarch studio that combines design, technology, critical theory and the public realm. Past projects include constructing an indoor garden with reflective steel steps for the Uzbekistan pavilion at the Venice Art Biennale in 2022.

Grima will curate the first design triennial at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis taking place next year.

Herkner is known for his innovative product and furniture design

Joining Grima on the design panel is German designer Herkner, founder of Studio Sebastian Herkner.

Herkner is known for his innovative product and furniture design, collaborating with notable brands such as &Tradition, Cappellini, and Moroso.

Recent projects including the Nymph table lamps from Poltrona Frau launched during Milan design week this year and curved paper lampshades for German brand Midgard Licht.

London-based designer and entrepreneur Chieza will join the sustainability panel for Dezeen Awards 2025

London-based designer and entrepreneur Chieza will join Ana Maria Duran on this year’s sustainability judging panel.

Chieza is founder of Faber Futures, a design agency that explores the intersection between design and biotechnology, and lifestyle brand Normal Phenomena of Life. Notable projects include a silk jacket dyed with bacteria-produced pigment.

In 2024, she was recognised as a “visionary designer and thought leader”, winning a London Design Medal as well as being shortlisted for last year’s Dezeen Awards Bentley Lighthouse Award.

Saltmer leads the lifestyle design team at Bentley

Saltmer, who leads the lifestyle design team at Bentley, will join Giancarlo Valle and Camille Walala on the interiors judging panel.

Saltmer works across Bentley Home furniture, Bentley residential spaces and the Bentley VIP Record Room in Manchester.

Before joining Bentley, Saltmer worked at Land Rover and Range Rover specialist Overfinch, designing car parts as well as bespoke commissions for car interiors and products.
