Atomic Keyboard Is Selling the Iconic Keyboard From “Severance”

  • by

Apple TV+’s Severance has become one of the most talked-about shows in recent years – not only for its gripping psychological storyline, but also for its meticulous world-building. The series has captivated audiences with its eerie portrayal of work-life balance taken to an extreme. Beyond its writing and performances, much of Severance’s unsettling allure comes from its striking production design, where every prop feels intentional. And perhaps no object is more emblematic of the “severed floor” than the unusual retro keyboard used by the Macrodata Refinement team. Now, fans of the show and beyond can bring a piece of that uncanny office environment into their own workspace. Atomic Keyboard has announced the MDR Dasher Keyboard, a faithful recreation of the one featured in the show.

The MDR Dasher maintains the distinct, slightly offbeat aesthetic that made the on-screen keyboards so memorable: an oversized blue keyboard bed, dramatically separated arrow keys, and a built-in black trackball. It feels both futuristic and outdated at once – a design tension that perfectly mirrors the tone of Severance.

Atomic Keyboard is offering the MDR Dasher in three variations: The Innie – the most authentic to the show’s design, preserving the original key layout and trackball; The Outtie – a modernized 60% keyboard that keeps the same retro styling but adapts it with more practical keys for daily work; and The Dasher – a variation that swaps the trackball for a number pad while still retaining the bold, industrial design.

Whichever model you choose, this is not a lightweight desk accessory. Each MDR case is CNC-machined from solid aluminum and weighs an impressive 7 kilograms (over 15 pounds). The build also supports hot-swappable switches and keycaps, giving mechanical keyboard enthusiasts plenty of customization potential.

Of course, such craftsmanship and cult TV status come at a price. The MDR Dasher will retail for $899, though early backers on Kickstarter will have a chance to secure one for $599 until September 18, 2025. For fans of Severance or keyboard obsessives, it’s a fun opportunity to own a piece of pop culture that bridges television and tech design.
