We’ve all scrolled through more than our fair share of TikToks that capture just how chaotic life can feel. Whether you’re a parent trying to keep up with the moving pieces of family life or simply absorbing the constant flood of world news, everything is moving fast and full of uncertainty.
For many, the simple ritual of a warm cup of coffee or tea is a small act of grounding. There’s nothing quite as calming as wrapping your hands around the cup, letting the warmth remind you to slow down, if only for a moment.
Ba’ndo has designed a brand for Nippon that leans into that very feeling and gently asks a radical question: Why the rush?
For Nippon—a challenger wellness brand bringing premium Japanese matcha and houjicha teas to Türkiye and Europe—the Istanbul (and London)-based brand transformation agency built an identity that celebrates ritual over routine, slowness over urgency. More than just tea, Nippon bridges East and West: honoring centuries-old Japanese tea traditions while inviting a wellness-curious Western audience to rediscover presence in their daily lives.
Ba’ndo’s approach began with a simple idea: build a brand world, not just a logo. Patterns and illustrations inspired by Japanese aesthetics form the foundation of this visual language. Organic and geometric motifs reinterpret traditional forms with a modern touch. A signature pink sun glows across touchpoints, a quiet, consistent symbol of unity between East and West.
Minimalist illustrations capture moments of serene ritual, from harvesting to whisking to pouring. Every line feels intentional and weighted with craft. Nippon’s identity isn’t just about how it looks; it’s about how it makes you feel. Every design choice—from the balanced typography to the earthy color palette and hand-drawn details—turns a cup of tea into a moment of stillness.
In a world where speed often overshadows substance, Nippon stands as a gentle reminder: good design isn’t just beautiful. It invites us to live differently.
