— Online retailer Butcher Block Co. has released details of an upcoming promotion in which the company will offer shoppers 15 percent savings on its complete line of BBCO countertops and island tops on orders placed from August 29th through September 30th. To earn the discount, shoppers need only enter the promo code “UPGRADE” during checkout.
The promotion will run the entire month of September, 2025 and will feature BBCO butcher-block and plank-style tops, which are available in standard and custom sizes and in fourteen species of wood: American Cherry, Ash, Beech, Birch, Brazilian Cherry, Hickory, Knotty Alder, Knotty Pine, Mahogany, Maple, Red Oak, Spanish Cedar, Walnut and White Oak.
BBCO butcher block tops come in edge-grain and end-grain construction styles. Edge-grain butcher blocks display the vertical wood grain that appears on the edges of planks cut from the trunk of the tree. Each wood rail used in the construction of an edge-grain countertop measures 1” wide and runs the full length of the countertop.
In contrast, an end-grain top will show off wood grain patterns and growth rings one would see if viewing many horizontal slices or cross sections of the source tree. The surface of an end-grain countertop highlights the fiber-rich sawed ends of wood pieces, delivering a more intricate and mesmerizing look, plus a more resilient cutting surface. BBCO’s Contemporary end-grain butcher block tops incorporate shorter wood rails, ranging in length from 1-1/2 to 6 inches, and arranged in rows that run parallel to the depth of the counter. Plank-style countertops and island tops are made from planks of wood that are cut from the trunk of the tree. They show what’s called the face grain of the tree. BBCO plank-style tops utilize boards that vary in width from 3 inches to 6 inches, delivering a more natural and interesting look. As with edge-grain butcher blocks, all wood rails run parallel to the length of the counter or island.
