Keita Morimoto, a Japanese artist based in Tokyo, spent 14 years in Toronto, graduating from OCAD University in 2012. His emotive paintings blend classical techniques with everyday motifs, bringing characters to life.
Inspired by light, his works explore both natural and artificial illumination, reflecting scenes of familiar yet anonymous places. Morimoto aims to offer viewers an escape from reality by infusing ordinary settings with unidentifiable figures. He believes that true freedom lies in shaping our own narratives, emphasizing the importance of valuing personal stories over external ideals.
