Dezeen has announced the design shortlist for this year’s Dezeen Awards, which includes projects by India Mahdavi, Konstantin Grcic and MVRDV.
Shortlisted designs this year feature a cave-like store with ceiling oculi by Other Matter for Aēsop and a soft-edged statuesque lamp hand-cast in crystal glass and carved solid stone by Tom Fereday for Nau.
Also amongst the shortlisted projects are plant-based chairs made of hemp and eelgrass by Foersom and Hiort-Lorenzen for Normann Copenhagen. Unveiled this year during Stockholm Design Week, biomaterials were used instead of injection-moulded plastic to create a shell chair — marking the brand’s first foray into the world of bio-based plastics.
Dezeen Awards 2025 shortlists announced this week
Dezeen Awards 2025, in partnership with Bentley, will reveal all shortlisted projects this week. The architecture and interiors shortlists were announced earlier this week and the sustainability shortlist will be revealed tomorrow.
This year’s nomination-based Designers of the Year and Bentley Lighthouse Award shortlists will be announced on Friday and next Monday respectively.
“The design shortlist captures problem-solving at its best,” said Ben Saltmer, Dezeen Awards judge and head of lifestyle design at Bentley, “with designers creating products that make life easier, or simply more beautiful.”

The winner of each project category will be announced live at the Dezeen Awards party on 25 November at Exhibition White City in London. All 14 winners will then compete for the prestigious title of design project of the year.
