Dezeen has announced the 18-strong design shortlist for the inaugural Dezeen Awards China, which includes products by Sunon, Yann Design Studio and Leapx Design.
The shortlisted projects, which are in the running for awards in four different design project categories, represent the most innovative designs recently created in the country.
Among the projects is a bespoke side table which takes cues from volcanic lava, a smart brush with a built-in colour-matching system and a wearable body-sensing air conditioner.
The shortlist also features a collection of steel-framed cork furniture and a series of lamps made from waste circuit boards.
Dezeen Awards China 2023 shortlists revealed this week
The shortlisted projects were selected by our design jury which includes industrial designers Frank Chou and Min Chen, Michael Young of Michael Young Studio, Amsterdam-based Carole Baijings and Design Shanghai event director Zhuo Tan.
This is the first edition of Dezeen Awards China, which is in partnership with Bentley Motors. The architecture and interiors shortlists were published earlier this week and the China designers of the year categories will be unveiled tomorrow.

The winner of each design project category will be announced at a party in Shanghai in December With the four winners competing for the title of Chinese design project of the year.

Dezeen Awards China 2023
Dezeen Awards China is the first regional edition of Dezeen Awards, to celebrate the best architecture, interiors and design in China. The annual awards are in partnership with Bentley Motors, as part of a wider collaboration that will see the brand work with Dezeen to support and inspire the next generation of design talent in China.
