Interspec Custom Joinery’s latest kitchen renovation for an early 2000s penthouse on Sydney’s Northern Beaches is a true testament to timeless luxury and functionality.
The clients, downsizers with an Italian background, desired a modern yet practical kitchen that would not only complement the breathtaking views of Long Reef but also cater to their multi-use cooking needs.
To achieve this, Interspec Custom Joinery took inspiration from a cherished piece of furniture and incorporated marble, brass inlays and unique-profiled polyurethane doors into the design. Custom slimline Shaker and semi-round door profiles were meticulously crafted in-house on the company’s CNC machine to ensure precision throughout the project.
The renovation included some ergonomic updates, such as Blum drawers and a Wesco pull-out bin to enhance usability. Interspec also addressed storage issues by adding drawers in the pantry, creating an appliance nook, and optimising shelf space for easy access. The penthouse is in a strata block so faced limitations, but the team skilfully worked within the existing footprint to create a contemporary kitchen that meets the client’s wishes.
The stunning book-matched Calacatta Oro honed marble serves as a focal point, adorning the island bench, splashback, floating shelf and rangehood. To complement the grand design, high-quality appliances were installed, including Fisher & Paykel integrated fridge, Bosch dishwasher, Pitt cookers, Smeg built-in oven and a Blanco under-mount sink.
