Italian bathroom brand Terzofoco has developed a versatile system of hand-thrown ceramic pedestals that support modular elements such as washbasins, planters and barbecues.
The LuneUp concept was created by designer Emanuel Gargano as a versatile “total-living system” that allows users to customise the product by choosing from a range of interchangeable elements.

Manufactured in Umbria using Terzofoco‘s expertise in ceramics, the collection features on the shortlist for Dezeen Awards 2025 in the bathroom product design category, but can also be used in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings.
Hand-turned ceramic pedestals that can be topped with different attachments such as washbasins, barbecues and a range of storage containers to extend the product’s functionality.
The pedestals can function as basins and BBQs
“With its minimalist design language and attention to material quality, LuneUp aligns with contemporary architectural trends that prioritise well-being, nature and understated luxury,” said Terzofoco.
The freestanding H2O module combines a washbasin and a small accessory container that intersect with the aluminium surface. It can be used alongside a floor-mounted or countertop-mounted tap to create a sculptural feature in the bathroom.

The H2O range is suitable for use in indoor or outdoor residential bathrooms, as well as commercial environments ranging from spas and wellness centres to wineries.
For larger spaces, the Console module introduces a second leg that supports an expanded countertop and accommodates additional storage elements.

The collection includes a wall-mounted version with the basin suspended from the aluminium countertop, as well as a bench that combines with the tall ceramic module.
A shorter version of the freestanding module can be used as a versatile storage container or planter. Together with an aluminium lid, it also functions as a practical pouf for casual seating.
Due to the ceramic material’s high heat resistance, the washbasin can alternatively be used as a small brazier. A circular metal grille can be placed on top to transform this module into a barbecue.
The system’s material palette is intentionally minimal in order to highlight the ceramic’s natural texture and the purity of the forms, which are designed to complement a wide range of architectural contexts.
Each component in the system can be individually replaced if needed
The aluminium elements are finished with resin to create a tactile and durable surface, while the ceramic structure is available in a range of finishes and earthy tones.
“With this collection, Terzofoco redefines the role of traditional materials, placing handcrafted ceramic at the centre of a flexible, sustainable and contemporary design vision,” the company said.
The range supports barbecuing
All materials used in the production of the LuneUp system are sourced from central Italy, close to Terzofoco’s facility, in a bid to reduce the design’s environmental impact and support the regional economy.
Each component in the system can be individually replaced if needed, helping to extend the product’s lifespan and avoiding the need to discard the entire system if one element fails.
Other recent furniture projects that use ceramic include Henry Holland’s debut collection and Jacques Monneraud’s Carton, a collection of ceramics that appear to be crafted from cardboard and tape.
