Niall McLaughlin, Mariam Issoufou and Caroline Till revealed as Dezeen Awards 2025 judges

Architects Niall McLaughlin and Mariam Issoufou and designers Caroline Till, Dina Nur Satti and Tom Gozney have joined this year’s judging panel for Dezeen Awards 2025.

Dezeen Awards, in partnership with Bentley, is the world’s biggest awards programme across architecture, interior and design.

With only one day left until entries close, submit your projects by 23:59 London time tomorrow, 29 May, and have your work seen by our star-studded judging panel.

McLaughlin is the founder of Stirling Prize-winning studio Niall McLaughlin Architects

London-based architect McLaughlin, who founded Stirling Prize-winning studio Niall McLaughlin Architects, will join Fran Silvestre and fellow Stirling Prize winner Simon Allford on the architecture panel for Dezeen Awards 2025.

Designing across education, culture, health and housing, McLaughlin is responsible for significant projects including a seven-storey red-brick rugby museum in Ireland, a library created for the University of Cambridge and an entrance and viewpoint for an English castle, named one of RIBA’s best buildings in the UK for 2024.

McLaughlin’s studio also recently unveiled its design for a timber-framed building for Maggie’s, a cancer support charity.

Issoufou will judge this year’s architecture entries

Joining McLaughlin on the architecture panel is Nigerian architect Issoufou, who is the founder of architecture studio Atelier Masōmī.

The studio, which has offices in Niamey, New York and Zurich, aims to create spaces that improve people’s quality of life. Notable projects include collaborating with South African architect and previous Dezeen Awards judge Sumayya Vally to design a presidential library for Liberia’s former president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in Monrovia.

Earlier this year, Issoufou designed the Rolex Pavilion for the Venice Architecture Biennale, a renowned architecture festival curated by architect Carlo Ratti. With sustainability a significant aspect of this year’s festival, Issoufou’s pavilion was produced using upcycled and recycled materials.

Till is the co-founder and executive director of FranklinTill

Designer and researcher Till will sit on the sustainability panel alongside Joe Doucet and Phoebe English.

Till is the co-founder and executive director of FranklinTill, a design research agency that uses colour and material innovation to promote positive social and environmental change. The agency recently curated an exhibition to help inform designers about textiles that have a greater positive impact on people and the planet.

As former director of the Material Futures postgraduate course at London’s Central Saint Martins, Till is an expert on sustainable design and a leading figure in her field.

Satti recently showcased her work at Efie Gallery in Dubai

Brooklyn-based artist and designer Satti will join Design Singapore Council’s executive director Dawn Lim on this year’s design judging panel.

Known for her contemporary handmade ceramics, Satti takes inspiration from ancestral craft traditions, pre-colonial African societies and communal rituals.

Satti recently showcased her work at Efie Gallery in Dubai during a group exhibition that explored traditional African practices that foster community, remembrance, unity, and strength.

Gozney founder is of the pizza oven brand of the same name

Joining Satti as a design judge is British self-taught designer Gozney.

A globally recognised entrepreneur, Gozney is the founder of the eponymous pizza oven brand. Notable products he has designed include Roccbox, the world’s first stone-floored portable pizza oven.

The designer has received multiple accolades, such as the Red Dot Design Award, and was featured in Time magazine‘s 2021 best inventions list for his product Gozney Dome.
