Promotion: design fair PAD London is returning to the British capital in October, bringing together both 20th century and contemporary collectable design from the world’s leading galleries.
Taking place annually during the Frieze art fair, PAD London presents objects that blur the line between functionality and art.
Jesse Schlesinger sculpts wood into unfamiliar forms
For its 17th edition, taking place from 14 to 19 October under the fair’s signature tent at Berkeley Square in Mayfair, PAD London will feature 67 galleries from 20 countries.
Among the list are 11 new exhibitors, including Beirut gallery PIK’D, PAD London’s first-ever participant from the Middle East, and the influential US institution Friedman Benda.
Collectable design classics by Gaetano Pesce will feature at PAD London 2025
PIK’D will present ceramic and glass pieces, including the delicately built-up vessels of Australian-Lebanese ceramicist Andrea Nassar.
Friedman Benda will focus on the playful and mischievous with works from its lengthy roster of talent, including French-Lebanese maker Najla El Zein and celebrated British designer Faye Toogood.

Among the other new exhibitors is Paris’s Pulp Galerie, which is creating a presentation dedicated to legendary Italian architect and designer Gaetano Pesce, with rarely seen works from private collections.
Also from Paris are Sceners Gallery and Galerie Rinck, with the former juxtaposing the work of French abstract painter Jean Degottex and Italian art nouveau designer and artisan Carlo Bugatti.
Galerie Rinck will celebrate the art deco designs of one of its historic figures, Eugène Rinck, in a display created with British studio and gallery The Guild of Saint Luke.

The display will feature contemporary reinterpretations by the Guild made in black burl and milled stainless steel, which the gallery says will act as “brooding, decadent” counterparts to the warm tones of the originals.
Returning favourites include London’s Gallery Fumi, which is premiering work from one of its new talents, American artist and woodworker Jesse Schlesinger, who sculpts wood into unfamiliar forms.
Rinck and the Guild of Saint Luke’s collaboration presents modern twists on art deco
Meanwhile, Brussels gallery Objects with Narratives is presenting the monumental bronze lighting of Bulgarian artist and set designer Vladimir Slavov, whose chandeliers grace the new Dries Van Noten flagship store in Hanover Square.
Of the London-based exhibitors, the Sarah Myerscough Gallery is featuring works from many of its global artists, including the innovative wooden vessels of German artist Ernst Gamperl, while Adrian Sassoon is focusing on pieces that combine craft and innovation, including a diptych of intricately sculpted small gold flowers.
Meanwhile, Milan’s Nilafur Gallery will present two displays: one surveying decades of visionary design with examples ranging from Walter & Moretti to Bethan Laura Wood, and a second exclusively focused on Indian designer Vikram Goyal, who merges his cultural heritage with contemporary sensibilities.

Leading French design galleries are also returning for 2025, including Meubles et Lumières with a custom-made, 14-cushioned Maurice Marty sofa from 1972 and Galerie Mélissa Paul with the sculptural, spindly Fan tables and Jellyfish chair of Clotilde Ancarani.
Galerie Kreo and Maison Parisienne will also be in attendance. The first featuring the high-gloss resin Jello coffee table by Marco Campardo and the second going more ethereal with a series by glass artist Gerald Vatrin featuring translucent forms with gold leaves.
