Sagres is an iconic beach house nestled in the coastline of Nuns Beach in Queenscliff, Victoria. Constructed in 1991, its design has stood the test of time thanks to the distinctive contemporary style of its architect, the late Wayne Gillespie. The three-storey beach house underwent a significant renovation in 2022 to embrace the modern era, while maintaining its original luxury. Now available as luxury accommodation on the Bellarine Peninsula, Sagres Queenscliff draws on inspiration from the Mediterranean coastline to inform its timeless aesthetic.
The name “Sagres” pays homage to the most South-Western point of Portugal. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, this region is reminiscent of the property’s breathtaking views across the Victorian coastline.
Interior specialist Emily Fitzgerald and owner Jo Youl worked together on the interior of this home. Natural and organic fibres are layered to create a cosy aesthetic that soaks into its natural surroundings. Playful pops of colour, pattern and texture invite a sense of ‘classic European holiday’ to this coastal home. Spanning three levels with five generous bedrooms on the lower and upper levels, whilst an open plan living, kitchen and dining flow out onto the enviable outdoor deck.

A Locals Guide to Queenscliff
MORNING
Start the day with sourdough croissants, breads and small batch pastries from Ket Baker or make like the local and settle in for coffee and breakfast at the Queenscliff General Store.
Discover the works of painters, sculptors and ceramicists at Salt Contemporary Art or take the private track to Nuns Beach, one of Queenscliff’s best beaches.
MIDDAY
Perhaps a cheeky wine tasting could be in order at Leura Park Estate or Jack Rabbit Vineyard. Otherwise pack a picnic and drive 30 minutes north-west to Geelong’s Eastern Beach Reserve where a sea bath invites year-round swimming.
If you’re feeling active, tee up at Lonsdale Links, an 18-hole golf course located in the coastal dunes of Point Lonsdale and bordering beautiful Lake Victoria or jump aboard a piece of steam train history on a scenic tour with The Bellarine Railway.
EVENING
Pull up a seat at local seaside bar, Noble Rot, focusing on wines from the neighbourhood and abroad with a tasty food menu to boot. Or take a short 20 minute drive to Barwon Heads for modern bistro and wine bar Tommy Guns.
