Next week, PRINT unveils the winners of its 2024 awards. Each day will be dedicated to the designers and designs that deserve celebration. One consequence, thank you very much, is a week off for The Daily Heller.
Since learning of the plan, I’ve taken the opportunity to organize my physical space and digital libraries to be more efficient—and to make donations to the SVA Milton Glaser Study Center and Archive. Consequently, I’ve also found some lost gems for future columns and, to my surprise, this misplaced and totally forgotten video about Paul Rand’s process, which includes a clip of his meeting with Steve Jobs (before the age of oligarchs) when he presented his NeXT logo proposal—a masterpiece of design erudition (before the age of brand strategy).
