Sekizaki Auto Art Announces Expansion Into Dedicated Studio for Automotive Artwork

Ann Sekizaki announces a dedicated art studio to support her automotive paintings, alongside local displays and the development of Seattle-themed art products.

— Sekizaki Auto Art, the art practice of Ann Sekizaki, announces its expansion into a dedicated studio following the completion of a purpose-built workspace. The move follows Sekizaki’s use of a bedroom in her home and supports her ongoing work in automotive painting, customized apparel, and art-based products.

The studio represents a development in Sekizaki’s practice as she completes additional paintings and pursues exhibition opportunities in the Seattle area. Her work combines rare and collectible vehicles with landscapes, human figures, and symbolic backgrounds, drawing on themes of identity, place, and culture.

Alongside the studio expansion, Sekizaki reports that her artwork has been displayed at bank locations in Seattle and on Mercer Island since July. These displays provide local settings for presenting her paintings while she explores longer-term gallery arrangements.

Among her recently completed works is a painting depicting a rally car descending a winding road. The composition shows the vehicle in successive positions across the upper portion of the canvas, using repeated images to suggest movement. Dirt rises from the road toward the foreground.

“I want you to actually feel like the dirt is flying into your eyes,” Sekizaki says.

The painting also incorporates a woman’s figure and the face of a West African woman. According to Sekizaki, these elements connect the automotive subject with the people and geography that inspired the composition. The work reflects her approach of placing vehicles within a broader visual setting rather than presenting them as isolated subjects.

Beyond her paintings, Sekizaki is developing Seattle-themed coffee cups featuring her artwork, colored handles, and a logo bearing the words “Seattle, Washington.” The designs include a nighttime view of the city from Kerry Park, a setting she also uses as a background for customized automotive images.

Sekizaki produces the cups herself using a mug press. The project extends her artwork into a separate product format, with designs intended for visitors interested in Seattle-themed items. Her additional work includes individually painted shoes and jackets.

The studio development also accompanies planning for future exhibitions. Sekizaki discusses a potential placement for her paintings in a proposed interactive art gallery in Seattle. Her longer-term concept includes a museum-style setting for automotive artwork and appearances by invited guests. Those plans remain in development.

Sekizaki is retaining her original paintings for future exhibition purposes rather than offering them for sale. Her current activities include completing additional artwork, developing art-based products, and exploring locations where the paintings could be presented.
